My name is Eric Arauz and I am an Inspirational Speaker that has Bipolar Disorder 1. I was first diagnosed in 1995 as Bipolar 1, Drug Addicted and Alcoholic.

 I was released from the United States Navy in 1994 on a medical discharge after all ten of the primary toe knuckles in my feet were removed and the bones fused together. I have a ruptured screw sitting across the primary joint in my left big toe.

 I was born with Poland Syndrome, this is a birth defect of having no left pectoral muscle, major and minor, and an under-developed left wrist and hand, leading to arthritis in my left hand and now due to the foot operations,  both my feet.

 My biological father, Einar Arauz, died of untreated mental illness after he had abandoned my family and he attempted to end my life when I was 12.

 This caused me to reach a weight of 265 pounds going into eigth grade in 1984. I eventually lost 116 pounds between the start of eight grade and ninth grade in 1985.

 I have been in 3 maximum security institutions including the maximum security wing of a Veterans Adminstration hospital in 1996, my second maximum security incarceration. I was untreatable, volunteers took dogs in to see me to pet so I would not lose all humanity. 

My family was being counseled on dealing with a permanently institutionalized family member.

I was strapped down in four point restraints for a period of over twenty hours.

MY LIFE WAS OVER: THERE WAS NO COMING BACK FROM THE LANDSCAPES OF HELL I WANDERED INTO: 26 YEARS OLD AND A LIFE DESTROYED.

 YOU NEED A DEATH BEFORE YOU CAN HAVE A RESURECTION AND I AM HERE TO SING FROM THE ROOFTOPS THE STORY OF MY SECOND CHANCE WITH THE HOPE IT CAN AWAKEN OTHERS TO THE BEAUTY AND OPPORTUNITY IN THERE OWN LIVES.

 Since 1996, I have escorted my step-dad, Bud Powers, through a 4 year terminal illness that defeated him in 2000.

I have earned a Bachelor's Degree from Rutgers University with High Honors in 2000; I have earned a Master's Degree in Labor and Employment Relations from the  Rutgers University School of Management and Labor Relations with a 3.85 g.p.a. and was the lead researcher for the United Nations Association N.J. and a graduate Teacher's Assistant.

I was admitted into a Doctorate program at Rutgers University in February 2008. I will start my studies in the Fall 2008. 

 I am sober over 11 years and married to the woman of my dreams. The most beautiful person I have ever met inside and out.

 My life is a gift that I must share.

 I currently go throughout the United States as an Inspirational Speaker helping others transgress their self determined limitations and live the life they desire. My message is one of love, understanding and compassionate energy from a fellow sufferer that existed on the absolute fringes of society.

I was homeless and destitute when I re-entered the world after the Veterans Administration Hospital and now I stand in the sunlight of Universal optimism and walk the path of a blessed survivor.

I hope to sit and meet with you all in the coming days as we make our way forward in this world.

 I AM HERE FOR YOU AND WILL STAND WITH YOU AS YOU FEARLESSLY EXAMINE YOUR INTERNAL LANDSCAPES TO SEE WHERE YOUR SELF-CENTERED FEAR IS BLOCKING YOU FROM THE REALITY YOU DESIRE.
